Max J. Kimura was born and raised in Hawaii. He is a graduate of Saint Louis High School and went on to receive degrees from California public universities, the last one being a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Throughout his schooling, Max supplemented his undergraduate and law school education with Study Abroad Programs in Paris, France. He traveled throughout Western Europe and East and Southeast Asia absorbing the art, history, and perspectives from the various places he visited.
Soon after completing his studies, Max practiced complex, expedited civil litigation with San Francisco's premier plaintiff's asbestos and tobacco law firm led by the late Harry F. Wartnick. On his way back home to Hawaii from California, Max made an 8 year layover in Japan, where he managed a private English emersion school.
After returning home, Max worked alongside Wayne M. Sakai, Michiro Iwanaga, and Richard C. Sutton, Jr. for nearly 10 years. He would go on to work for medium and large firms in Honolulu before setting up his own independent practice and stepping into an Of Counsel role at Sakai Iwanaga Sutton Law Group.
As a civil litigator, Max's talent lies in developing legal tactics and strategies to bring about favorable and fair results for clients. He primarily focuses on construction defects, products liability, premises liability, personal injury, breach of contract, and condominium disputes. Whether the amount at controversy is in the thousands or millions of dollars, Max approaches every case with the same dedication and focus on creating the most cost-effective path towards a successful resolution or final judgment.
Max lives on the same Honolulu property with his wife, five children, one daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, two toy poodles, and chickens.
